Cybersafety requires a coordinated and collaborative national approach.
To begin addressing the issue of cybersafety and cyberbullying, NCAB with support from the Centre for Strategic Education (CSE) held a symposium in Melbourne in May 2007.
Federal Communications Minister Helen Coonan and Victorian Education Minister Jacinta Allan addressed the symposium, which was supported by the Telstra Foundation. In addition, cybersafety specialists from the USA, New Zealand and Australia, including several NCAB members, gave insightful presentations.
The symposium participants agreed that cybersafety requires a coordinated and collaborative national approach. As a result, NCAB is now working with a variety of interest groups including education, welfare, industry, government, police, parents, students and not-for-profit organisations to harness the outcomes of the symposium.
